The students of KG-2 (Gulshan Branch)
took part in a ‘reading Competition’ on 27th February’14. The story
was titled ‘Happy the Hippo’ and was taken from the book, Oxford Reading
Circle.
Each reader wore a crown (made or
chart paper) which had a relevant picture of the story characters. He/she
handed the crown over to the next reader having finished the reading.
Their names were written on the board
and teachers put obtained points ( out of 10) next to the names. Finally the
highest scorers were selected as first, second and third and were given slashes
(made of chart papers).
Fluency, pronunciation, voice
quality(loud), dramatization etc. were emphasized while reading.
This was an enjoyable activity for
the students which also ensured good reading habit.
